Oktoberfest Band for Country Clubs

Appalachian Freunde Polka Band is a German polka trio from Asheville, NC. Country clubs and community associations book us for member Oktoberfests. We bring a full show of polkas, waltzes and sing-alongs, and three players fit a clubhouse room or a patio tent.

What do your members get?

You get three players. Diane Fields plays keys and sings. Mike Fields plays drums and runs the sound. Adam Bennett plays clarinet and sax and sings. Our song list has polkas, waltzes, ballads, toasts, a march, sing-alongs and American rock songs.

The waltzes give couples a reason to dance. The sing-alongs, like Edelweiss, Country Roads and Sweet Caroline, bring in the members who came to listen. Ein Prosit, the German toast song, comes around in every set. Every show has the Chicken Dance. Günther von Cluckenstein, our 8-foot inflatable chicken, joins some shows. Meet him on our Chicken Dance page.

How does the evening run?

We play our show in sets. Each hour has at least 45 minutes of music and a 15-minute break. Bookings run 3 hours or more. We play Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and our peak season runs August to October. Check open weekends on our calendar.

What does the club need to provide?

We bring our own sound system, and Mike runs it. We add lighting when the event needs it. We need two outlets on one 20-amp circuit. We arrive about 2 hours before the start to load in, and load-out takes about 45 minutes. Three players fit a clubhouse room, a patio tent or a stage. For an outdoor event, plan a covered or indoor backup spot in case of rain.
